When pets are young their immune systems are strong, they can fight off illness and you can get away with feeding them less than quality food. However, as pets age and their immunity becomes progressively weaker, the toll of having a poor diet really kicks in because nutrition plays a vital part in keeping the immune system robust. This is when you will start to see problems arise and multiply, such as skin allergies, bad teeth, bad breath, dull coat, arthritis, heart disease and cancer. Feeding your dog the best quality food with high nutritional value from the start is the best way to give your pet a long truly healthy life.
The short answer is YES – surgery is the only option here. A slipping knee cap (luxating patella, is a torn ligament) and it can only be corrected via surgery. To prevent arthritis it is best to do the surgery sooner rather than later. Using joint formula and shark cartilage slows down arthritis, it is does not repair the injury.
There could be several reasons for this. Have you changed your cats food (from wet food to dry?). Is the weather very hot and therefore your cat is panting and needing more water? This could also be a sign of something more, such as kidney disease, diabetes or hyperthyroidism. The best course of action will be to have a veterinary consultation. Blood tests can be run to see how the kidneys are performing and to check other possible causes.
This is a tell-tale sign that your dog needs a dental procedure. The smell is caused via a build of bacteria in the mouth and/or roting teeth and infected gums. The longer you leave this unfortunately, the worse it will become. So best to get it nipped in the bud and take action sooner rather than later.
