Dr Ivor The Best Holistic Vet on the Gold Coast

Holistic – What a buzz word this is. It seems everyone is getting on the band wagon! Vets included.

But what is a holistic vet?

A true holistic vet has a unique difference in the way they see how healing works.   They view every aspect of your pet including their physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional and social settings.  Each of these areas combined give a bigger picture showing the over all health and wellbeing of your pet.

Bay Vets will use this information as a base to build a Treatment and Wellbeing Plan for your Pet.  This is a very individual approach to pet health.  Bay Vets, Runaway Bay are trained to make individual herbal medicines specifically for your pet’s health needs.

This is because they have studied natural medicine, Nutrition and Natural diets, Western Veterinary Herbal medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine,  Acupuncture through a recognised  Australian College and have gained post graduate qualifications in their area of study.  This means they have trained further to gain qualifications above and beyond their veterinary degree.

They cannot “un-see” or “un-know” what they have been trained and are qualified to look for to obtain robust health for your pet.

So when your pet comes to see a Vet at Bay Vets Runaway Bay you have peace of mind knowing that your pet is in a qualified trained professional holistic vet.  Bay Vets Runaway Bay are the ONLY practice on the Gold Coast that have qualified holistic vets.

Integrative Medicine – what is this?

Integrative means the combining of natural and pharmaceutical medicine.  Our vets know how to do this well for the best outcome for your pet.

This is an important thing to know.   Not all vets know how to combine these two medicine types. But Bay Vets do!.

Veterinary Consultations

There are three types of Veterinary Consultations at Bay Vets Runaway Bay.

1. Standard Veterinary Consultation  – 20 minutes

This Consultation will include a full physical examination and our vets will ask you questions about your pets health, your reason for visiting (if you have a specific concern about your pet).  Your pets temperature, pulse and heart rate will be checked.  Your pets coat health will be checked.  Your pets ears and eyes will be checked.  The Vet will check what medications or preventative health (tick/flea/heartworm) treatments your pet is on.  The Vet will check the vaccination status of your pet. (Bay Vets have a Titre Test) which can be performed to show the current level of vaccine your pet has – this way we are not under or over vaccinating your pet).  Please ask for more information about this  at the time of consultation. They will ask about your pets general wellbeing, their social setting and diet.

 2. Initial Holistic Consultation   – 60 minutes

This consultation is a deep dive into your pets health.  The Bay Vets Team will send you a form to complete prior to you coming into this consultation.  This form gathers information about your pets diet, medications, prior health, medical records (from other practices).  It will ask about their behaviour, their social setting and much more.  This consultation sets the bench mark and gives reference points of where your pets health is and provides a detailed treatment plan to get your pets health to where you want it to be.  Many people select this type of consultation if they have had long standing medical issues with their pet that are not resolved – even though they have tried all the things their regular vet has asked them to do.   Our Vets will provide a path to healing for your pet.

3. Emergency Consultation 20 minutes   Call (07) 5662 1234

This consultation is for an emergency only.  This is  where you have not made a prior appointment.  Our vets will give you emergency priority and will see you as soon as you enter the practice.  We can provide medical treatment and surgery.  However Bay Vets Runaway Bay Emergency Service is only available between the following hours:  8am-6pm Monday – Friday and Saturday 8am-12pm.
